Characteristics of Protease Produced by Vibrio vulnificus and Its Effect on the Activity of Hemolysin

Abstract
The protease produced by the Vibrio vulnificus was a metalloprotease whose activity was inhibited by phosphoramidon and EDTA. And its activity was effectively inhibited by zinc ion at the concentration of 0.5mM/ml, while the activity of hemolysin
was
not affected. When zinc ion was not affected. When zinc ion was added to culture medium the protease activity was inhibited for some period. Maximum level of total protein in culture medium was not changed, but the decline of protein
concentration
in
culture medium ws markedly diminished. And maximum titer of hemolysin and its duration were also amrkedly increased. When zinc ion was added to 45% ammonium sulfate fraction of culture supernatant, there was a considerable level of protective
effect on
the activity of hemolysin at 25¡É and 37¡É, but for samples stored at 4¡É for 24 hours and for samples treated at 56¡É, there ws not any difference between samples with and without zine ion.
